Body · points
During early development sons & daughters are given different set of toys instilling varying experiences e.g girls plays with dolls, doctor kits and boys with cars.
Division of roles: Engaging girls in care and cooking duties sow seeds of early labour division
- Reluctance to send girls outside homes while boys being allowed inducing fear & inability to depend among girls (weak perception)
- Boys encouraged for higher education while girls not promoted
- Gendered occupations: The case of pink collared jobs such as teaching, medical etc is pushed into career aspirations at children level itself.
However, modern values & globalisation forces have brought wave of change such as:
- Gender parity in education
- Democratic decision making in households
- Change in laws to allow women to work at night
- Companies with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) programs
