Wars begin in minds of men

① Intolerance : based upon narrow lens of Race, caste, religion, etc. often creates grounds for tensions.

② outgroup Homogenity : Assuming everyone else is criminal alike (shows a bad rational outlook)

③ lack of communication and intercultural contacts leads to ignition of even small misunderstanding into full blown conflicts.

④ Presence of anti-social elements, media as Echo-chamber, etc.

Love & compassion build defences of peace

→ within the nation; it preserves order, forges social capital & thwarts aggression. Eg: muslim brothers providing drinking water, medicines to kanwariyas.

→ This is true across nations as well Eg: India's peaceful exchange of territories with Bangladesh (100th const. Amend.)

Diagram
Way Ahead → role of Agents of Socialization → Emotional Intelligence → working upon values of Constitution: Fraternity, etc.

Thus, even the hardest of rocks can be shaped by unwavering force of love & compassion, as was depicted in case of meeting of Angulimal & Buddha.
