This quote by Gandhi throws light at the value of Plato's cardinal virtue of Fortitude in real life. This involves speaking up against the wrong happening instead of just bearing silently.

This can be traced to the virtue upheld by Mr. Satyendra Dubey whereby he fought the mafia tooth and nail with courage and did not give in to the 'hush money' and death threats given to him.

This can also be traced to all kinds of whistle blowing activity like Snowden revelations whereby he chose to uphold the larger public interest by disclosing the ills of State surveillance rather than sticking to rulebook of secrecy.

In the modern times this requires objectivity and wisdom on part of the individual to choose the right path for speaking up in line with Nishkama Karma.
