Decisive factors behind moral attitude

  1. Upbringing by parents - as child learns first moral values from parents. As Talcott Parsons mentions the importance of socialisation.
  2. Peer group - our company determines our moral attitude. eg when our friends make fun of a poor boy, we see it as legitimate.
  3. Law - creates deterrence against immoral activities. eg: capital punishment to Nirbhaya rapists -> sends a positive message.
  4. Education - Moral science in school and influence of teachers.
  5. Our past experiences.

Incident from my life

My maid Rita Aunty had one daughter (16 years old) and son (22 years old). I came to know that she was searching a groom for her daughter Poonam. I changed her attitude towards child marriage by: -> Making aware about Child Marriage Prohibition Act -> Examples of girls studying and making parents proud -> Explaining the negative effects on reproductive health of young brides

Thus, I was able to prevent her daughter's child marriage.
