In the news since 6 February 2026

Why in news
On 6 February 2026, the Women and Child Development Minister told Lok Sabha that 38 contributors had registered on the PANKHUDI portal as of 3 February 2026, and described the outreach done so far.
What it is
PANKHUDI is a single-window digital portal of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Individuals, NGOs, Corporates and NRIs use it to offer help to women and child development work in a structured, transparent way. It links contributions to the Ministry's flagship missions.
Nature of portal
Single-window digital platform of MWCD for participation by individuals, NGOs, corporates and NRIs.
Type of contribution
The portal handles registration, proposal submission and tracking of contributions, and only non-cash contributions are covered.
Linked schemes
Contributions are aligned with Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti, to promote convergence.
Capacity building
A Pankhudi module has been added to major courses of the Savitri Bai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD).

Don’t confuse with Mission Shakti vs Mission Vatsalya: Mission Shakti covers women's safety and empowerment; Mission Vatsalya covers child protection.

Don’t confuse with Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 vs Mission Vatsalya: Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 deals with nutrition, early childhood care and education; Vatsalya deals with child protection.

Schemes: 52 Prelims questions since 2013, 10 in Prelims 2026 alone. They test features, the period and who funds it. In Mains, 33 news-triggered questions, mostly GS3.

No practice question for this one; the card may still help an answer. Why: New Women and Child Development portal for non-cash contributions; scheme-type items are 16% of Prelims questions, but facts here are thin.

Worth revising until Prelims 2027: most news questions come within two years of the event.
