SRMS
Under the Self Employment Scheme for Rehabilitation of Manual Scavengers, a capital subsidy of ₹4.72 crore reached 204 people.

Don’t confuse with NSKFDC vs National Commission for Safai Karamcharis: NSKFDC is a finance corporation giving loans and training. The National Commission for Safai Karamcharis is a separate body that monitors welfare schemes and looks into grievances.

Don’t confuse with NSKFDC vs National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK): NSKFDC is a finance and development corporation giving loans. NCSK is a commission that monitors welfare schemes and advises the government.

Don’t confuse with NAMASTE vs SRMS: NAMASTE promotes mechanised sanitation and safety of sewer and septic tank workers. SRMS is an older scheme to rehabilitate manual scavengers through self-employment.

Laws, judgments and statutory bodies: 30 Prelims questions since 2013 (what the law says, who chairs, legal basis). In Mains, 44 news-triggered questions, most in GS2, asking for provisions and challenges.

No practice question for this one; the card may still help an answer. Why: A lasting body on the syllabus with loan limits, but statutory bodies are only 7 of 327 Prelims questions and Mains is unlikely.

Worth revising until Prelims 2028: most news questions come within two years of the event.
