Question 85: International Relations and Current Affairs

Consider the following statements with regard to the film ‘Boong’ :

  1. 1.The film has recently won the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award in the Children's and Family Film category.
  2. 2.The film is directed by Lakshmipriya Devi.
  3. 3.This is the first Indian film to win a BAFTA award in the Children's and Family Film category.

Which of the statements given above is/are correct ?

a1, 2 and 3
b2 and 3 only
c1 and 2 only
d3 only

AnswerUPSC’s answer is (a).

Boong, directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, won the BAFTA Award in the Children's and Family Film category, and it is described as the first Indian film to win a BAFTA in that category. The award, the director and the first-ever claim all hold, so all three statements are correct. As a current-affairs item, learn the film, the director and the category together.

  • 1. Boong won the BAFTA Children's and Family Film award.
  • 2. Lakshmipriya Devi directed it.
  • 3. It is the first Indian film to win in that category.

How you could have got this

  1. If you were sure statement 1 is correct, (b) and (d) go: each of them leaves 1 out.

What you needed to know: Boong won the BAFTA Children's and Family Film award.

  2. Then, if you were sure statement 3 is correct, (c) goes: it leaves 3 out.

What you needed to know: It is the first Indian film to win in that category.

Only (a) is left. You didn’t need statement 2.

This follows UPSC’s provisional key; the final key could change it.

Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.

Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Right: all three statements are correct.
  • (b) Incomplete: statement 1 is also correct.
  • (c) Incomplete: statement 3 is also correct.
  • (d) Incomplete: statements 1 and 2 are also correct.

Only the provisional key (27 May 2026) was found; the final key replaces it when found.

Answer: UPSC’s key. Explanation: written by UPSC Grade, not by UPSC.
