- 1.Its objective is to generate forecasts at the Panchayats cluster level.
- 2.It was developed by IIT Delhi.
Select the answer using the code given below :
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (a).
The Bharat Forecast System is a high-resolution weather model, with a resolution of about 6 km, developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Its objective is to generate forecasts at the level of panchayat clusters, so statement 1 is correct. It was not developed by IIT Delhi, so statement 2 is wrong.
- 1. It aims at forecasts for panchayat clusters.
- 2. It was developed by IITM Pune, not IIT Delhi.
How you could have got this
- If you were sure statement 1 is correct, (b) and (d) go: each of them leaves 1 out.
What you needed to know: It aims at forecasts for panchayat clusters.
- Then, if you were sure statement 2 is not correct, (c) goes: it includes 2.
What you needed to know: It was developed by IITM Pune, not IIT Delhi.
Only (a) is left. This one needs every statement.
This follows UPSC’s provisional key; the final key could change it.
Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Right: the panchayat-cluster objective is correct.
- (b) Wrong: IITM Pune, not IIT Delhi, developed it.
- (c) Wrong: statement 2 is incorrect.
- (d) Wrong: statement 1 is correct.
Only the provisional key (27 May 2026) was found; the final key replaces it when found.
Answer: UPSC’s key. Explanation: written by UPSC Grade, not by UPSC.
