Which of the statements given above is/are correct ?

a1, 2 and 3
b1 and 2 only
c2 and 3 only
d1 only

AnswerUPSC’s answer is (a).

Mission Sudarshan Chakra was announced by the Prime Minister on Independence Day 2025. It aims to build a multi-layered national security shield by 2035 that covers India's strategic and civilian sites, including public places, strengthening air defence, ballistic missile defence and aerial offensive capability. It is meant to give rapid, precise and powerful responses and reinforce strategic autonomy. All three statements match this description.

  • 1. It strengthens air defence, ballistic missile defence and aerial offensive capability.
  • 2. It is meant to give rapid, precise and powerful responses and strategic autonomy.
  • 3. It targets an expanded nationwide shield by 2035 covering public places.

How you could have got this

  1. If you were sure statement 3 is correct, (b) and (d) go: each of them leaves 3 out.

What you needed to know: It targets an expanded nationwide shield by 2035 covering public places.

The red flag in statement 3 is “all”. In UPSC’s papers, statements with “all” were true 41% of the time (76 statements). A hint, not a rule.

  2. Then, if you were sure statement 1 is correct, (c) goes: it leaves 1 out.

What you needed to know: It strengthens air defence, ballistic missile defence and aerial offensive capability.

Only (a) is left. You didn’t need statement 2.

This follows UPSC’s provisional key; the final key could change it.

Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.

Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Right: all three statements are correct.
  • (b) Incomplete: statement 3 on the 2035 shield is also correct.
  • (c) Incomplete: statement 1 is also correct.
  • (d) Incomplete: statements 2 and 3 are also correct.

Only the provisional key (27 May 2026) was found; the final key replaces it when found.

Answer: UPSC’s key. Explanation: written by UPSC Grade, not by UPSC.
