Question 7: Reading Comprehension

Which one of the following statements is not correct?
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (a).
The paintings named come from only two states: Pattachitra from Bengal and Thanjavur paintings from Tamil Nadu. Assam is credited with bamboo crafts and Madhya Pradesh with tribal sculpture, which are not paintings. So the claim of paintings from four states is wrong, and that is the answer. The other three options are stated in the passage: the entrance felt like entering another world, the zones are described as galleries that live, and they took inspiration from well-known temples.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Not correct: only Bengal and Tamil Nadu paintings are named; Assam and Madhya Pradesh are crafts and sculpture.
- (b) Correct: passing through the entrance is likened to entering another world.
- (c) Correct: the zones are described as living galleries.
- (d) Correct: the thematic zones take inspiration from well-known temples.
