UPSC Prelims 2025 · GS Paper I
Question 99: International Relations and Current Affairs
Consider the following statements in respect of the first Kho Kho World Cup :
- IThe event was held in Delhi, India.
- IIIndian men beat Nepal with a score of 78–40 in the final to become the World Champion in men category.
- IIIIndian women beat Nepal with a score of 54–36 in the final to become the World Champion in women category.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
AnswerThe answer is (a).
The first Kho Kho World Cup was held in New Delhi in January 2025, so Statement I is correct. India won both titles, beating Nepal in both finals, but the scores in the statements are swapped. The Indian women won the final 78-40 and the Indian men won 54-36. Statements II and III give the wrong scores. Remember: women 78-40, men 54-36.
- I. The tournament was held in New Delhi.
- II. The Indian men won the final 54-36, not 78-40.
- III. The Indian women won the final 78-40, not 54-36.
How you could have got this
- If you were sure statement III is not correct, (b), (c) and (d) go: each of them includes III.
What you needed to know: The Indian women won the final 78-40, not 54-36.
Only (a) is left. You didn’t need statements 1 or 2.
This follows an unofficial answer: UPSC has not published its key for this year, and if that answer is wrong, so is this path.
Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Right: only the venue statement is correct.
- (b) Wrong: both scores are swapped.
- (c) Wrong: the women's score in III is wrong.
- (d) Wrong: the scores in II and III are wrong.
