Question 71: Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability
A joint family consists of seven members A, B, C, D, E, F and G with three females. G is a widow and sister-in-law of D's father F. B and D are siblings and A is daughter of B. C is cousin of B. Who is E ?

- 2.Grandmother of A
- 3.Aunt of C
Select the correct answer using the code given below :

F is D's father, and B and D are siblings, so F is also B's father and A's grandfather. G, a widow, is the sister-in-law of F, so she is the widow of F's brother, and C is her son, B's cousin. The family needs a mother for B and D, so E is F's wife. That fixes the three females as G, A and E. E is then F's wife (1), A's grandmother (2) and C's aunt (3).
- 1. E is the mother of B and D, so F's wife.
- 2. F's wife is the grandmother of A, the daughter of B.
- 3. C is the child of F's late brother, so F's wife is C's aunt.

- If you were sure statement 1 is correct, (b) goes: it leaves 1 out.
What you needed to know: E is the mother of B and D, so F's wife.
- Then, if you were sure statement 2 is correct, (c) goes: it leaves 2 out.
What you needed to know: F's wife is the grandmother of A, the daughter of B.
