Select the correct answer using the code given below :
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (b).
Digital India aims to deliver government services electronically, build digital infrastructure and promote digital literacy. Taking broadband and Wi-Fi to villages, schools, public places and tourist centres is part of this. Creating Indian counterparts of foreign Internet companies is not a stated aim of the programme, and neither is a policy to make overseas firms that hold Big Data build their data centres inside India.
- 1. Building Internet companies like China's is not a stated aim.
- 2. Forcing overseas firms to set up local data centres is not an aim of Digital India.
- 3. Rural connectivity and Wi-Fi in schools and public places is an aim.
How you could have got this
- If you were sure statement 2 is not correct, (a), (c) and (d) go: each of them includes 2.
What you needed to know: Forcing overseas firms to set up local data centres is not an aim of Digital India.
Only (b) is left. You didn’t need statements 1 or 3.
Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Wrong: neither statement is an aim of Digital India.
- (b) Right: only connecting villages and providing Wi-Fi in public places is an aim.
- (c) Wrong: statement 2 is not an aim.
- (d) Wrong: statements 1 and 2 are not aims.
