- 1.Setting up more agro-based industries
- 2.Improving the price affordability by the poor
- 3.Regulating the conditions of marketing
- 4.Providing food subsidy to one and all
Select the correct answer using the code given below:
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (b).
The passage says food production, marketing and prices, above all the price affordability of the poor, are global issues needing global solutions, and that supply alone does not move food to those lacking purchasing power. So improving affordability for the poor (2) and regulating the conditions of marketing (3) are the solutions drawn. Setting up agro-based industries (1) and subsidy for everyone (4) are never proposed.
- 1. More agro-based industries are never proposed.
- 2. Price affordability for the poor is named as a global issue to be fixed.
- 3. Marketing is named alongside production and prices as needing global solutions.
- 4. A subsidy for everyone is never proposed.
How you could have got this
- If you were sure statement 1 is not correct, (a), (c) and (d) go: each of them includes 1.
What you needed to know: More agro-based industries are never proposed.
Only (b) is left. You didn’t need statements 2, 3 or 4.
Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Agro-based industries (1) are never proposed.
- (b) Right: affordability for the poor and the conditions of marketing.
- (c) Includes 1 and 4, neither of which is proposed.
- (d) Includes 1 and 4, neither of which is proposed.
