aKhangchendzonga National Park
bNandadevi National Park
cNeora Valley National Park
dNamdapha National Park
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (d).
Namdapha National Park in Arunachal Pradesh rises from lowland plains to snow-covered peaks. Over this altitude range its climate varies from tropical to subtropical, temperate and arctic. It is also noted for its big cats, including the tiger, leopard, snow leopard and clouded leopard. Remember Namdapha for its range from tropical to arctic climate.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Khangchendzonga is in Sikkim and is high-altitude, but it is mainly temperate to alpine.
- (b) Nandadevi in Uttarakhand is a high Himalayan park, not tropical to arctic.
- (c) Neora Valley in West Bengal has rich forests, but not this climatic range.
