Question 9: Environment and Ecology
Consider the following pairs :
| 1. | Dampa Tiger Reserve | Mizoram |
| 2. | Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary | Sikkim |
| 3. | Saramati Peak | Nagaland |
Which of the above pairs is/are correctly matched?
a1 only
b2 and 3 only
c1 and 3 only
d1, 2 and 3
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (c).
Dampa Tiger Reserve lies in Mizoram, so pair 1 is right. Saramati is the highest peak of Nagaland, on the border with Myanmar, so pair 3 is right. Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary is in Tripura, not Sikkim, so pair 2 is wrong. Remember Dampa as the Mizoram tiger reserve and Saramati as Nagaland's highest point.
- 1. Dampa Tiger Reserve is in Mizoram.
- 2. Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary is in Tripura, not Sikkim.
- 3. Saramati Peak is in Nagaland.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Wrong. Pair 3 is also correctly matched.
- (b) Wrong. Pair 2 is mismatched because Gumti is in Tripura.
- (c) Right. Dampa in Mizoram and Saramati in Nagaland are correct.
- (d) Wrong. Pair 2 is wrong, so not all three match.
