Question 25: Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability
Gita is prettier than Sita but not as pretty as Rita. Then,
aSita is not as pretty as Gita.
bSita is prettier than Rita.
cRita is not as pretty as Gita.
dGita is prettier than Rita.
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (a).
Gita is prettier than Sita, and Rita is prettier than Gita, so the order from prettiest is Rita, Gita, Sita. Therefore Sita is not as pretty as Gita. Options (b) and (d) contradict that order, and option (c) says Rita is not as pretty as Gita, which is also the reverse. Remember: turn comparisons into a ranking line before reading the options.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Right. Gita is prettier than Sita, so Sita is not as pretty as Gita.
- (b) Wrong. Sita is the least pretty of the three.
- (c) Wrong. Rita is prettier than Gita, so the reverse is true.
- (d) Wrong. Gita is not as pretty as Rita.
