AnswerThe answer is (b).

Madras got India's first municipal corporation, in 1688, under a charter from the East India Company, and it is among the oldest civic bodies of its kind. Bombay and Calcutta got theirs later, and Delhi's civic body came much later still. Remember Madras 1688 as the earliest.
