AnswerThe answer is (d).

Mount St. Helens is an active volcano in Washington state in the north-western United States, in the Cascade Range; its eruption on 18 May 1980 was the deadliest and most economically destructive volcanic event in US history. Chile, Japan and the Philippines have volcanoes too, such as Villarrica, Fuji and Mayon, but not this one.

Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Chile has volcanoes such as Villarrica, but not Mount St. Helens.
  • (b) Japan has Mount Fuji, not Mount St. Helens.
  • (c) The Philippines has Mayon, not Mount St. Helens.
  • (d) Correct: Mount St. Helens is in the United States.
