bgeneration of employment for the able-bodied adults who are in need and desirous of work during the lean agricultural season

dguarantee of right to life, liberty and security of person, equality before law and equal protection without discrimination
AnswerThe answer is (c).
The 73rd Amendment Act, 1992, in force from April 1993, gave constitutional status to Panchayati Raj. It added Part IX and the Eleventh Schedule to the Constitution, provided a three-tier structure with regular elections, reservation for women and the weaker sections, State Election Commissions and State Finance Commissions. Employment schemes and fundamental rights are covered elsewhere.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Employment generation in rural areas is the aim of schemes like the Jawahar Rozgar Yojana, not this Amendment.
- (b) Employment for adults in the lean season is the aim of schemes such as Employment Assurance, not this Amendment.
- (c) Right: the Amendment laid the foundation for Panchayati Raj Institutions.
- (d) Fundamental rights such as life, liberty and equality are in Part III, not the 73rd Amendment.
