Question 13: Economy and Social Development

Indian Human Development Report does not give for each sample village

aInfrastructure and Amenities Index
bEducation Related Index
cHealth Related Index
dUnemployment Related Index

AnswerThe answer is (d).

The Indian Human Development Report of 1999, prepared by NCAER, gave village-wise indices for infrastructure and amenities, education and health. Unemployment is not among these indices, so it is the one the report does not give for each sample village. The indices follow the human development idea: living conditions, knowledge and health.

Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Infrastructure and amenities form one of the village-level indices given.
  • (b) An education-related index is given for each sample village.
  • (c) A health-related index is given for each sample village.
  • (d) Right: unemployment is not among the village-level indices given.
