AnswerThe answer is (d).
The Komagata Maru incident, in which the Japanese ship carrying Indian emigrants was turned back from Vancouver and the passengers were fired on at Budge Budge near Calcutta, took place in 1914. Gandhi returned to India from South Africa in January 1915. Tilak started his Home Rule League in April 1916. So the order is II, III, I.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Puts the Home Rule League first; it was last, in 1916.
- (b) Puts Gandhi's arrival before the Komagata Maru, which was in 1914.
- (c) Puts the Home Rule League before Gandhi's arrival in 1915.
- (d) Right: Komagata Maru (1914), Gandhi's arrival (1915), Home Rule League (1916).
