Question 122: Geography
Which one of the following is cultivated by transplanting seedlings?
aMaize
bSorghum
cOnion
dSoyabean
AnswerThe answer is (c).
Onion is raised in a nursery and the seedlings are transplanted to the field. Maize, sorghum and soyabean are sown directly in the field as seeds. Rice, tomato, brinjal and chilli are other crops grown from transplanted seedlings, because their tiny seedlings need care before they are moved out. Remember onion as the transplanted one here.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Maize is sown directly in the field.
- (b) Sorghum is sown directly in the field.
- (c) Right: onion seedlings are transplanted.
- (d) Soyabean is sown directly in the field.
