- Why in news
- On 6 October 2026, MSDE and MoWCD held an orientation session at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, and released the SOP for NAVYA 2.0, ahead of its launch in 100 Aspirational Districts.
- What it is
- NAVYA is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It gives vocational training to young women and adolescent girls aged 16-25 and links them to entrepreneurship, apprenticeship and livelihoods. It began as a pilot in 2025 and works through convergence of skilling and women and child development bodies at district level.
- Ministries involved
- MSDE runs it with MoWCD. District Collectors, ITI Principals, RDSDEs and CDPOs implement it locally.
- Target group
- Young women and adolescent girls aged 16-25 years, with pathways to entrepreneurship, apprenticeship and livelihoods.
- Pilot launch
- The pilot was launched on 24 June 2025 from Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.
- Pilot coverage
- The pilot ran in 27 districts across 19 States/UTs.
- NAVYA 2.0 coverage
- Expanded to 100 Aspirational Districts in 24 States/UTs.
- Linked platforms
- Sessions covered Skill India Digital Hub, the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme and entrepreneurship support by NIESBUD.
Don’t confuse with NAVYA vs NAPS: NAVYA is a skilling initiative for young women and girls; NAPS is a general apprenticeship scheme that NAVYA links to.
