- Why in news
- On 12 March 2026 the MSME Ministry told the Lok Sabha that 364 of 606 approved MSE-CDP projects are complete, and 378 of 513 SFURTI clusters are functional. The reply was released on 14 March 2026.
- What it is
- MSE-CDP and SFURTI are cluster-based schemes of the Ministry of MSME. MSE-CDP builds Common Facility Centres and infrastructure in existing micro and small enterprise clusters. SFURTI supports traditional industry clusters such as handicrafts, handloom, coir and honey, to raise artisan incomes and market links.
- MSE-CDP progress
- 606 projects approved since inception; 364 completed and 242 ongoing.
- MSE-CDP nature
- A demand-driven Central Sector Scheme. State Governments send proposals based on common needs of existing clusters.
- SFURTI approvals
- 513 clusters approved since 2015-16 with committed central assistance of ₹1,332.95 crore.
- TEAM scheme
- Trade Enablement and Marketing scheme helps micro and small enterprises onboard onto ONDC through assistance to Seller Network Participants. Half of beneficiaries are to be women-owned.
Don’t confuse with MSE-CDP vs SFURTI: MSE-CDP serves existing modern micro and small enterprise clusters with CFCs and infrastructure. SFURTI serves traditional industry and artisan clusters, mainly rural.

Why it matters
- Common facilities let small units share costly technology, testing and design, raising productivity and competitiveness.

Problems
- About 40% of MSE-CDP projects and 135 SFURTI clusters are still under implementation, showing slow completion.
- Clusters depend on state proposals, so uptake may vary across states.
Way forward
- Speed up project completion and track CFC utilisation after commissioning.
- Link clusters with digital platforms such as ONDC and Udyam for market access.
