Select the answer using the code given below :

a2 and 3
b1 and 4
c3 and 4
d1 only

AnswerUPSC’s answer is (b).

The question asks for the outcomes that are not correct. Going by UPSC's key, the visit of the German Chancellor in January 2026 did produce the Hockey India and German Hockey Federation MoU on youth hockey development (2) and a bilateral dialogue mechanism on the Indo-Pacific (3). The MoU between the All India Institute of Ayurveda and the University of Hamburg (1) and the opening of an Honorary Consul of Germany in Lucknow (4) were not outcomes. So the answer is 1 and 4.

  • 1. Not an outcome of the visit, per UPSC's key.
  • 2. The youth hockey MoU was an outcome.
  • 3. The Indo-Pacific dialogue mechanism was an outcome.
  • 4. Not an outcome of the visit, per UPSC's key.

How you could have got this

  1. If you were sure statement 1 is not correct, (a) and (c) go: each of them leaves 1 out.

What you needed to know: Not an outcome of the visit, per UPSC's key.

The red flag in statement 1 is “all”. In UPSC’s papers, statements with “all” were true 41% of the time (76 statements). A hint, not a rule.

  2. Then, if you were sure statement 4 is not correct, (d) goes: it leaves 4 out.

What you needed to know: Not an outcome of the visit, per UPSC's key.

Only (b) is left. You didn’t need statements 2 or 3.

This follows UPSC’s provisional key; the final key could change it.

Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.

Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Wrong: the hockey MoU and the Indo-Pacific dialogue were outcomes.
  • (b) Right: statements 1 and 4 are not correct outcomes.
  • (c) Wrong: statement 3 was an outcome.
  • (d) Incomplete: statement 4 is also not an outcome.

Worth knowing: The outcome list of the visit could not be independently confirmed here; the explanation follows UPSC's key.

Only the provisional key (27 May 2026) was found; the final key replaces it when found.

Answer: UPSC’s key. Explanation: written by UPSC Grade, not by UPSC.
