AnswerUPSC’s answer is (b).

Pairs 1 and 2 are correct. Argentina was in the news in 2023 for its worst economic crisis in decades, with very high inflation. In April 2023, war broke out in Sudan between the regular army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. Pair 3 is wrong: Turkey did not leave NATO; it was in the news over delaying Sweden's accession.

  • 1. Argentina faced a severe economic crisis with very high inflation.
  • 2. Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces went to war in 2023.
  • 3. Turkey remains a NATO member; it did not rescind its membership.

How you could have got this

No shortcut here: in a “how many” question, ruling out options doesn’t help. Every statement has to be judged.

Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.

Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Wrong: two pairs, 1 and 2, are correctly matched.
  • (b) Right: Argentina's crisis and Sudan's war are correct; Turkey has not left NATO.
  • (c) Wrong: Turkey remains a NATO member.
  • (d) Wrong: Argentina's crisis and Sudan's war are real.

Answer: UPSC’s key. Explanation: written by UPSC Grade, not by UPSC.
