“Yogavāsistha” was translated into Persian by Nizamuddin Panipati during the reign of :
aAkbar
bHumayun
cShahjahan

AnswerUPSC’s answer is (a).
Nizamuddin Panipati translated the Yogavasistha, a Sanskrit philosophical text, into Persian as Jog Bashisht in the late sixteenth century, during Akbar's reign. Akbar's court sponsored many translations from Sanskrit, including the Mahabharata (Razmnama) and the Ramayana. Humayun, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb are not the emperors associated with this translation.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Correct. The translation was made in Akbar's reign.
- (b) Humayun's reign was too early and short for this translation.
- (c) Shah Jahan's reign came well after the translation.
- (d) Aurangzeb's reign came well after the translation.
