Select the correct answer using the code given below.
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (c).
The Initiative for Nutritional Security through Intensive Millets Promotion, run under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, demonstrates improved production and post-harvest technologies and value addition in an integrated way using a cluster approach. Millets are grown mostly by poor, small, marginal and tribal farmers, who therefore have a larger stake. It does not offer free input kits to pull commercial crop farmers into millets.
- 1. The initiative demonstrates technologies and value addition with a cluster approach.
- 2. Poor, small, marginal and tribal farmers grow millets and have a larger stake.
- 3. Free kits to move commercial crop farmers to millets are not an objective.
How you could have got this
- If you were sure statement 2 is correct, (a) goes: it leaves 2 out.
What you needed to know: Poor, small, marginal and tribal farmers grow millets and have a larger stake.
- Then, if you were sure statement 3 is not correct, (b) and (d) go: each of them includes 3.
What you needed to know: Free kits to move commercial crop farmers to millets are not an objective.
Only (c) is left. You didn’t need statement 1.
Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Statement 2 is also correct.
- (b) Statement 3 is wrong, and this leaves out statement 1.
- (c) Right: statements 1 and 2 are correct, statement 3 is not.
- (d) Statement 3 is wrong, so 'all three' fails.
