‘Mission Indradhanush’ launched by the Government of India pertains to
aimmunization of children and pregnant women
bconstruction of smart cities across the country
cIndia’s own search for the Earth-like planets in outer space
dNew Educational Policy
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (a).
Mission Indradhanush, launched in December 2014, is a campaign to raise immunisation coverage for children up to two years of age and pregnant women against seven vaccine-preventable diseases: diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B. It first targeted districts with low coverage. It has nothing to do with smart cities, space exploration or education policy.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Right: Mission Indradhanush is about immunisation of children and pregnant women.
- (b) Smart cities come under a different mission.
- (c) Searching for Earth-like planets is unrelated to this health mission.
- (d) It is not an education policy.
Answer: UPSC’s key. Explanation: written by UPSC Grade, not by UPSC.
