- 1.Its purpose is to promote entrepreneurship among SC/ST and women entrepreneurs.
- 2.It provides for refinance through SIDBI.
Select the correct answer using the code given below.
AnswerUPSC’s answer is (c).
Stand-Up India, launched in 2016, aims to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women by facilitating bank loans between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1 crore to at least one such borrower per bank branch, for a greenfield enterprise. A refinance window through SIDBI, with an initial corpus of Rs 10,000 crore, supports the lending banks. Both statements are correct.
- 1. The scheme targets SC/ST and women entrepreneurs.
- 2. It provides a refinance window through SIDBI.
How you could have got this
- If you were sure statement 1 is correct, (b) and (d) go: each of them leaves 1 out.
What you needed to know: The scheme targets SC/ST and women entrepreneurs.
- Then, if you were sure statement 2 is correct, (a) goes: it leaves 2 out.
What you needed to know: It provides a refinance window through SIDBI.
Only (c) is left. This one needs every statement.
Which options go is worked out from UPSC’s key and the options, not by a model.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Statement 2 on SIDBI refinance is also correct.
- (b) Statement 1 on SC/ST and women entrepreneurs is also correct.
- (c) Right: both statements are correct.
- (d) Both statements are correct, so 'neither' fails.
