Question 31: Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability
Six books A, B, C, D, E and F are placed side by side. B, C and E have blue cover and the other books have red cover. Only D and F are new books and the rest are old. A, C and D are law reports and others are Gazetteers. What book is a new law report with a red colour ?
AnswerThe answer is (d).
Red covers: A, D and F (B, C and E are blue). New books: D and F. Law reports: A, C and D. A book that is new, a law report and red must lie in all three sets, and D is the only one that does. F is new and red but a Gazetteer; A is red and a law report but old. Remember: intersect all the conditions.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) A is red and a law report but old.
- (b) B is blue and a Gazetteer.
- (c) C is blue, old and a law report.
- (d) Right: D is new, a law report and red.
