Question 66: Geography
In which one of the following districts have reserves of diamond-bearing kimberlite been discovered in the recent past?
aHoshangabad
bRaipur
cSambalpur
dWarangal
AnswerThe answer is (b).
Diamond-bearing kimberlite pipes have been found in the Raipur region of Chhattisgarh, which makes Raipur the answer. Hoshangabad, Sambalpur and Warangal are not known for such a recent discovery. Remember: Panna in Madhya Pradesh is India's operating diamond belt, and Chhattisgarh's kimberlites are the newer finds.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Hoshangabad is not known for kimberlite finds.
- (b) Correct: kimberlite was found in Raipur district.
- (c) Sambalpur is not known for a recent kimberlite find.
- (d) Warangal is not known for a kimberlite find.
