Consider the following statements:
- 1.National Thermal Power Corporation has diversified into hydropower sector.
- 2.Power Grid Corporation of India has diversified into telecom sector.
Which of these statements given above is/are correct?
AnswerThe answer is (c).
Both statements are correct. NTPC, India's largest thermal power company, has diversified into hydropower, with hydro projects of its own. Power Grid Corporation of India diversified into telecom by using the fibre-optic capacity on its transmission network. Remember: both public sector firms moved beyond their original business.
- 1. NTPC has entered the hydropower sector.
- 2. Power Grid entered telecom through its fibre network.

- If you were sure statement 1 is correct, (b) and (d) go: each of them leaves 1 out.
