Question 56: Economy and Social Development

Consider the following schemes launched by the Union Government: I. Antyodaya Anna II. Gram Sadak Yojana III. Sarvapriya IV. Jawahar Gram Samriddhi Yojana. Which of these were announced in the year 2000?

aI and II
bII and IV
cIII and IV
dI, II and III

AnswerThe answer is (a).

The Antyodaya Anna Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana were both announced in December 2000. The Jawahar Gram Samriddhi Yojana started in April 1999, replacing the Jawahar Rozgar Yojana, so it is out. The key does not count Sarvapriya among the 2000 announcements. Remember AAY as foodgrains for the poorest families and PMGSY as rural roads.

  • I. Antyodaya Anna Yojana was announced in 2000.
  • II. Gram Sadak Yojana was announced in 2000.
  • III. The key does not count Sarvapriya as a 2000 announcement.
  • IV. Jawahar Gram Samriddhi Yojana started in 1999.
Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Right: Antyodaya Anna and Gram Sadak were announced in 2000.
  • (b) Jawahar Gram Samriddhi Yojana dates from 1999.
  • (c) Neither Sarvapriya nor the Jawahar Gram Samriddhi Yojana belongs to 2000.
  • (d) Sarvapriya is not counted among the 2000 announcements.
