Question 82: Geography
Which one of the following pairs of states and tribes is not correctly matched?
aAssam : Miri
bNagaland : Konyak
cArunachal Pradesh : Apatani
dMadhya Pradesh : Lambada
AnswerThe answer is (d).
The Lambada (Banjara) people are found mainly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra, not chiefly in Madhya Pradesh, so (d) is the mismatched pair. The Miri (Mising) are a tribe of Assam, the Konyak a Naga tribe of Nagaland, and the Apatani a tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, living in the Ziro valley. Remember: Lambada means the Deccan, not Madhya Pradesh.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Not the answer. The Miri (Mising) are a tribe of Assam.
- (b) Not the answer. The Konyak are a Naga tribe of Nagaland.
- (c) Not the answer. The Apatani live in Arunachal Pradesh.
- (d) Right (the mismatch). Lambadas are chiefly of the Deccan states, not Madhya Pradesh.
