aI, III, II, IV
bIII, I, II, IV

AnswerThe answer is (a).

The August Offer of the Viceroy was made in August 1940. The Quit India Movement was launched in August 1942. The INA trials at the Red Fort began in November 1945. The Royal Indian Navy revolt took place in Bombay in February 1946. So the order is I, III, II, IV.

  • (a) Right: August Offer (1940), Quit India (1942), INA trial (1945), RIN revolt (1946).
  • (b) Puts Quit India before the August Offer of 1940.
  • (c) Puts the RIN revolt before the INA trial, but the trials came first.
