Question 80: Economy and Social Development
The Sixth and the Eighth Five-Year Plans covered the period 1980-85 and 1992-97 respectively. The Seventh Five-Year Plan covered the period
a1987-92
b1986-91
c1985-90
d1988-94
AnswerThe answer is (c).
The Sixth Plan ran from 1980 to 1985 and the Eighth from 1992 to 1997, so the Seventh falls between them as 1985-90. After it, two annual plans (1990-91 and 1991-92) filled the gap before the Eighth began, because of the political and economic uncertainty of those years.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) 1987-92 does not begin where the Sixth Plan ended, in 1985.
- (b) 1986-91 starts a year after the Sixth Plan ended.
- (c) Right: 1985-90.
- (d) 1988-94 is not even a five-year span.
