Question 31: History and Culture
Match List I with List II and select the correct answer by using the codes given below the Lists: List I I. Surat Split II. Communal Award III. All-Party Convention IV. Poorna Swaraj Resolution List II A) 1929 B) 1928 C) 1932 D) 1907 E) 1905 Codes:
AnswerThe answer is (b).
The Surat split of the Congress came in 1907. The Communal Award was announced in 1932. The All-Party Convention took up the Nehru Report in 1928, and the Poorna Swaraj (complete independence) resolution was adopted at the Lahore Congress in December 1929. The date 1905, the Partition of Bengal, is the odd one left over.
- I. I-D: the Surat Split was in 1907.
- II. II-C: the Communal Award was in 1932.
- III. III-B: the All-Party Convention was in 1928.
- IV. IV-A: the Poorna Swaraj resolution was in 1929.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) III-A and IV-E are wrong: the All-Party Convention was in 1928 and Poorna Swaraj in 1929.
- (b) Right: Surat 1907, Communal Award 1932, All-Party Convention 1928, Poorna Swaraj 1929.
- (c) I-B and II-E are wrong: the Surat Split was in 1907 and the Communal Award in 1932.
- (d) Every date is wrong, such as 1929 for the Surat Split.
