Question 97: Economy and Social Development

Consider the following: I. Industrial Finance Corporation of India II. Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India III. Industrial Development Bank of India IV. Unit Trust of India The correct sequence in which the above was established is

aI, II, IV, III
bI, III, II, IV
cIV, III, II, I
dI, IV, III, II

AnswerThe answer is (a).

The Industrial Finance Corporation of India was set up in 1948, the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India in 1955, the Unit Trust of India in 1964 and the Industrial Development Bank of India in 1964, a few months after UTI. So the order is IFCI, ICICI, UTI, IDBI. Remember: 1948, 1955, 1964, 1964.

Why each option is right or wrong
  • (a) Right: I, II, IV, III.
  • (b) Puts IDBI before ICICI and UTI, but it came later.
  • (c) Reverses the order; IFCI was the oldest.
  • (d) Puts UTI second, but ICICI (1955) came before UTI.
