Question 135: Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability
Seven men, A, B, C, D, E, F and G are standing in a queue in that order. Each one is wearing a cap of a different colour like violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. D is able to see in front of him green and blue but not violet. E can see violet and yellow, but not red. G can see caps of all colours other than orange. If E is wearing an indigo-coloured cap, then the colour of the cap worn by F is
AnswerThe answer is (c).
Taking A as the front of the queue, G stands last and sees A to F wearing every colour but orange, so G wears orange. E wears indigo and sees violet and yellow but not red, so red is not among A to D. D sees green and blue in front but not violet, so violet is on D, since E saw it among A to D. Then A to C wear green, blue and yellow, D violet, E indigo and G orange, which leaves red for F.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) Blue is among the caps of A, B and C, the ones D sees.
- (b) Violet is on D.
- (c) Right: red is what remains.
- (d) Orange is on G.
