Question 107: Science and Technology
The normal temperature of human body on the Kelvin scale is
a280
b290
c300
d310
AnswerThe answer is (d).
Normal body temperature is about 37 degrees Celsius. Kelvin is the SI unit of temperature and starts at absolute zero, minus 273 degrees Celsius, so a reading in kelvin is the Celsius reading plus 273: 37 + 273 = 310 K. The other options correspond to about 7, 17 and 27 degrees Celsius, far below body temperature. Remember: K = degrees C + 273.
Why each option is right or wrong
- (a) 280 K is about 7 degrees Celsius.
- (b) 290 K is about 17 degrees Celsius.
- (c) 300 K is about 27 degrees Celsius, a warm room.
- (d) Right: 37 + 273 = 310 K.
