Opening · a restatement

Large scale construction projects have been having huge ecological impacts like high water usage & tree loss.

They are however, refered to as 'smart' and 'green' due to their focus on addressing ecological concerns due to such projects.

For eg. a strategic Environmental impact assessment takes into account the impact of any project on the ecological system and thus try to incorporate changes in project designs to address these concerns.

Many projects are 'green' in the sense that they use bricks made of fly-ash - which is otherwise a pollutant.

Body · points and prose

• Most construction projects are legally mandated to have compensatory afforestation.

Close · a way forward

Development vs environment can have a logical conclusion when environmental concerns shake hands with developmental needs.

Strict Environmental Impact Assessment, and taking sustainable measures are the need of the hour.
