- Why in news
- On 29 May 2026, the Department of Financial Services (DFS) launched the Common Landing Portal for Unclaimed Financial Assets, built with PSB Alliance, during a review meeting of Public Sector Banks.
- What it is
- The Common Landing Portal is a single web gateway that links the search facilities for unclaimed money held in banks, insurance firms, and the securities market. It supports the 'Your Money, Your Right' campaign run by DFS with regulators and banks. It helps people trace assets that lie unclaimed and claim them.
- Launched by
- Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, launched it; Secretary DFS M. Nagaraju released it.
- Development partner
- The portal was developed in collaboration with PSB Alliance.
- Assets covered
- It gives search access to unclaimed bank deposits, insurance claims, shares, dividends and mutual funds.
- Campaign link
- It builds on the 'Your Money, Your Right' campaign, run with regulators, banks and other stakeholders for awareness, tracing and restitution.
Don’t confuse with Common Landing Portal vs. RBI's UDGAM: UDGAM is the RBI portal for searching unclaimed bank deposits only. The new portal is a single entry point across banking, insurance and securities.
Economy terms and data: 42 Prelims questions since 2013, rising in recent years; they test what a term or instrument means. In Mains, 12 news-triggered questions.
Why it matters
- Brings scattered search facilities into one place, easing access for citizens.
- Supports financial inclusion and trust in the financial system.
Problems
- Low public awareness of unclaimed assets and of how to claim them.
- Different regulators and institutions keep separate records, so integration and KYC verification are hard.
Way forward
- Run sustained awareness drives and keep records updated across regulators.
- Simplify claim procedures and link the portal's search to the claim process.

No practice question for this one; the card may still help an answer. Why: New portal under the 'Your Money, Your Right' campaign; useful but few testable facts, no UPSC count favours such portals.
