What it is
Pax Silica is a coalition of trusted nations that aims to secure the whole 'silicon stack'. The stack runs from critical minerals and chip fabrication to advanced AI systems and the infrastructure that deploys them. It is led by the United States and seeks to cut dependence on concentrated supply chains.
What the coalition covers
Pax Silica aims to secure the full silicon stack: critical minerals, semiconductor fabrication, advanced AI systems and deployment infrastructure.
Stated aims
It seeks to reduce overconcentration in supply chains, prevent economic coercion and keep emerging technologies governed by open, democratic societies.
When and where India joined

Skills need
The Minister said the semiconductor industry will need about one million new skilled professionals.

Don’t confuse with Pax Silica vs India Semiconductor Mission: Pax Silica is an international coalition on supply chain security. The India Semiconductor Mission is a domestic programme to build chip manufacturing in India.

Don’t confuse with Pax Silica vs iCET/TRUST: The India-US initiative on critical and emerging technology is a bilateral framework. Pax Silica is a wider coalition of trusted nations.

International bodies and relations: the largest group of news questions in Prelims (61 since 2013), often about background, members and location. In Mains, 27 news-triggered questions, mostly on India's interests.
